Ethiopian Airlines signs deal to manufacture, supply aircraft parts

Ethiopian Airlines will start aerospace manufacture in Ethiopia and supply aircraft parts to Boeing, Airbus and other aerospace companies, the airline said in statement.

To that effect, Ethiopian Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aerosud Group, a prominent South African aerospace manufacturing company aimed “at establishing a joint venture aerospace manufacturing company which will be based be based in Ethiopia.

The joint venture with Aerosud Group will contribute to the Ethiopian government’s five years’ Growth and Transformation Plan (GTPII) by establishing and developing a labor-intensive aerospace manufacturing industry.

Ethiopian Airlines is the fastest growing airline in Africa and hopes to prosper even more through the upcoming venture.

It is currently implementing a 15-year strategic plan called Vision 2025 aimed at making it the leading aviation group in Africa with seven business centers.
